Werner Reports Higher Second-Quarter Earnings, Revenue
ruckload carrier Werner Enterprises said late Wednesday its second-quarter net income improved 11% to $28 million or 35 cents a share, from $25.3 million or 31 cents a year earlier.
Revenue rose 9% to $528.9 million, Werner said in a statement.
The company cited several "inflationary pressures" to truckload carriers, including driver pay and other driver-related costs due to a difficult driver market, rising diesel fuel prices and the impending conversion to ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel later this year.
Werner is ranked No. 16 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
