Volvo AB Friday reported a third-quarter profit compared with a loss a year ago, as North American and global truck sales both increased.
North American truck sales rose 38% from a year ago, to $1.7 billion. Total worldwide truck sales increased 36%, to $6.2 billion.
For the total company, third-quarter net income was about $423 million, compared with a loss of $440 million a year earlier.
Revenue rose 32% to $9.7 billion, the company said. Gothenburg, Sweden-based Volvo reports its earnings in Swedish kronor.
Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks.
