SAN DIEGO — VisionWise Systems, a new venture founded by Spangenberg Partners, is introducing a digital vision system for commercial trucks designed to provide drivers with greater situational awareness and improve safety.
The company debuted its live demonstration truck and Vision-as-a-Service platform in the exhibit hall at the American Trucking Associations 2025 Management Conference & Exhibition, held Oct. 25-28.
The prototype, installed on a Freightliner Cascadia model, uses cameras extending from each side of the cab to capture 360-degree views around the vehicle. The cab is outfitted with digital displays that give the driver extended visibility of the truck’s surroundings and clear imaging in all lighting and weather conditions, the company said.
The programmable digital vision system, powered by a Qualcomm automotive chipset and an Nvidia processor, combines vision technology, artificial intelligence-powered edge computing and cloud-based management, VisionWise said.
“The official launch of VisionWise marks a milestone more than 10 years in the making,” said Lisa Spangenberg, CEO of Spangenberg Partners. “What began as a bold idea to create the world’s first mirrorless truck has evolved into a platform that’s transforming how commercial vehicles see and think.”
VisionWise said its platform builds upon over a decade of innovation originating from Spangenberg Partners’ “mirrorless truck” concept, first presented to ATA’s Future Truck Committee in 2013.
“VisionWise is proud to pioneer a new era of intelligent vision for the cause of commercial transportation safety,” said Glynn Spangenberg, CEO of VisionWise Systems.

Roehl Transport has signed an agreement to purchase 1,800 units of VisionWise’s digital vision system and integrated Vision-as-a-Service ecosystem, the companies announced.
Under this agreement, Roehl Transport will begin deploying initial prototypes in early 2026 and progress through beta testing to pave the way for fully commercial deployments.
“Safety has always been our cornerstone value,” said Rick Roehl, CEO of Roehl Transport. “We’re excited to deploy VisionWise’s technology to further improve visibility and safety for our drivers — and for the motoring public we share the road with — in our continuous pursuit of safety.”
Roehl Transport, based in Marshfield, Wis., ranks No. 69 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
Spangenberg Partners previously helped launch Stoneridge’s MirrorEye camera monitor system, which replaces traditional rear and side-view mirrors with digital cameras and monitors.
