The U.S. average pump price for diesel fuel fell 3.8 cents in the past week, to 148.0 cents per gallon as of Feb. 19, the Energy Department reported Tuesday afternoon.

hat average price has now fallen for three consecutive weeks. The national price on Tuesday was the lowest price since Aug. 21, when it stood at 147.1 cents.

The average price was down or essentially flat across the department’s U.S. regional listings.

It fell significantly on the East Coast, in the Midwest and along the Gulf Coast. It fell moderately in the Rocky Mountain region, and edged barely higher on the West Coast.

The U.S. Energy Information Agency surveys 350 fueling stations at the start of each week, and reports the results late on the same day that it polls the stations.
