PS Inc. expects its European sales to grow by a double-digit percentage this year, a company official told a German newspaper, Bloomberg reported.

The company raised its first-quarter sales in Europe by 13% and 15% in Germany and is gaining market share in the area, Wolfgang Flick, UPS’ head of European business, told Die Welt newspaper.

The purchase of Polish company Stolica SA will give UPS access to Eastern Europe, and the company also will expand its operations in Turkey, Flick said.

UPS spent about $165 million to add operations at Cologne/Bonn Airport in Germany and will employ 1,700 workers there when a new building and sorting center are complete in December, Bloomberg said, citing Die Welt.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
