Truckload Executives See Tighter Capacity in 2003

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Executives of four national truckload carriers and analysts who track them warned that what is already a serious capacity crunch for that industry will tighten further in 2003.

Senior trucking company officials said customers would see truckload capacity tighten even more as smaller carriers continue to go out of business and as carriers refrain from buying new trucks amid uncertainty over new-model engines.

"There's coming a day when customers are going to experience the tightest capacity ever in this industry," Covenant Transport Chief Executive Officer David Parker told a BB&T investors' forum.
