CNN talk show host Greta Van Susteren and Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater will headline a two-day national transportation safety conference March 2 and 3.

The interactive town hall meeting will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C., with connections to audiences in Detroit, Atlanta and San Francisco. Slater will take questions from the public.

The remainder of the meeting will consist of discussions on how to improve and further develop safety measures, said Federal Railroad Administrator Jolene Molitoris, the conference organizer.

This conference will help to focus the nation’s safety agenda on the nation’s highways, railways, waterways and airways.” she said.

“Each year, 44,500 people are killed and 3.4 million are injured as a result of transportation-related incidents,” Molitoris said. “By working with labor and other key stakeholders, we will create a national safety action plan for the 21st century by convening this National Transportation Safety Conference.”
