Transport Topics Wins Two Business Publication Awards
John Sommers II for Transport Topics Transport Topics took home silver awards in two categoriesat anAmerican Society of Business Publication Editors regional awards luncheonApril 13in Washington, D.C.
TT's digital series was honoredin the Web Microsite/Special Section category.
The project followed seven studentswho allowed Transport Topics to document their goal of making a midlife career change and becomingtruck drivers. Each student endured 16 days of grueling 10-hour training sessions in the hope of earning a commercial driver license. Through daily , and , Transport Topics illustrated the rigors that a prospective truck driver goes through trying to earn that CDL.

TheiTECH award came inthe Special Supplement category for the July 2016“On the Road to Automation” issue.
To help readers better understand developments surrounding self-driving technology and separate fact from fiction, Transport Topics dedicated the July/August issueto exploring the many facets of automated driving systems and related technologies, including truck platooning and vehicle-to-vehicle communications. The original, in-depth reporting contained in the 24-page supplement captured the perspectives of major industry players, including truck manufacturers, technology developers, government regulators, industry analysts and researchers, as well as a sampling of the sentiments of fleet executives who may someday purchase trucks equipped with automated driving capabilities.
