Outgoing TCA President Lana R. Batts
Lana R. Batts, president of the Truckload Carriers Association, announced her resignation from the group effective March 31. The surprise announcement at TCA’s executive committee meeting was prompted by the decision of the conference’s officers to support full integration of TCA with a restructured American Trucking Associations.
On Feb. 5, Batts said she was resigning to remove herself as a factor in the decision that members face over whether to accept their officers’ recommendation and tighten TCA’s affiliation with the national federation or take the group on an independent path.
The TCA board meeting was held shortly before the start of ATA’s Winter Leadership meeting.
In an interview after the TCA meeting, Batts elaborated on the reasons for her announcement.
“In some quarters, I’ve become the issue on whether to integrate, she said. “I have members on both sides of the issue, and that’s an untenable position for me as a trade association president.”
