The Truckload Carriers Association does not plan any more integration discussions with American Trucking Associations, according to TCA Chairman Robert Hansen.

In a June 27 interview, Hansen said ATA is inflexible on its requirement that all conference members also belong to ATA and a state trucking association.
“We just turned the clock back two-and-a-half years,” he said, referring to his organization’s August 1998 vote against ATA’s strategic plan.
The plan includes the mandatory membership provision that has already caused three groups — American Moving and Storage Association, Towing and Recovery Association of America and Truck Rental and Leasing Association — to leave ATA. The Agricultural Transporters Conference integrated with ATA in 1999 and the Distribution & LTL Carriers Association has agreed to integrate by the Dec. 31 deadline. Also, the munitions carriers and the intermodal conference are being reconstituted as policy committees.
