Contract talks between West Coast port operators and longshoremen went nowhere this week, both sides said as their old contract neared its July 1 expiration.

The contract between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association, which represents West Coast terminal operators, was set to expire July 1 at 5 p.m.

With talks at press time going down to the wire, truckers and shippers could only wait and hope that an agreement would be reached.
