Sontag Wins Technician’s Contest
USTIN, Texas — Technician Tyson Sontag, who works for the private fleet of McKee Foods in Gentry, Ark., outperformed 81 other competitors to win the SuperTech2006 national skills competition for truck technicians held here during the fall meeting of the Technology & Maintenance Council.
Sontag, who has worked for six-and-a-half years for McKee, a snack cake and granola bar manufacturer, won based on his overall performance at 10 diagnostic workstations and a written test.
The contest, started in 2005 is designed to highlight both the contestants’ high skill levels and the industrywide shortage of heavy-duty truck technicians.
