LoJack Offers Discounts to Hazmat Haulers
LoJack Corp. said Monday it would offer discounted rates on its stolen vehicle recovery systems to companies whose fleets haul hazardous materials."This program may be one small piece of a much larger equation, but we believe that the combination of our highly effective stolen vehicle recovery systems and direct integration with law enforcement has the potential to help our country avert an unnecessary tragedy in the event hazardous trucks are ever targeted for terrorist activities," LoJack President Joseph Abely said in a statement.
The company said that eligible customers would receive priority installation within 48 hours of their order.
Committee Blocks Accenture From $10 Billion Security Contract
The House Appropriations Committee passed a measure last week that would block Accenture LLP from a $10 billion security contract because the technology consulting firm is not based in the United States, news services reported.Accenture, based in Bermuda, was awarded a contract earlier this month to develop and expand biometric technology for checking the identities of million of foreigners visiting the United States.
The committee's vote was 35-17 to modify the Department of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøland Security's $32 billion budget to prohibit contracts between the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøland Security Department and corporations based abroad and prevent an overseas company already under a government contract from receiving additional ones.
The bill must still pass the full House and Senate and be signed by the president before becoming law. Transport Topics
