Fordhas officially ended production of the Ford Focus, closing a 27-year chapter for one of its most successful models.

The last unit, a white five-door hatchback, rolled off the line at the Saarlouis plant inGermanythis month, marking the end of a car that sold more than 12 million units worldwide,Fordsaid.

“,” the automaker’s website says. “It’s been a remarkable run. Unfortunately, we’re no longer building the Ford Focus. Contact your local dealer about other vehicles perfect for you and your family.”



According to the automaker, it introduced the Focus in 1998 as part of its strategy to replace the Escort and bring together its compact car lineup acrossEuropeandNorth America. The first-generation model debuted inEuropethat year and earned recognition, including the 1999 European Car of the Year award.North Americansales began in late 1999 for the 2000 model year, cementing the Focus as a worldwide success from the start.

The decision shows Ford’s pivot toward electric vehicles and SUVs.Fordexecutives confirmed the move was driven by profitability concerns and shifting consumer demand. Ford’s European lineup now focuses on electrified crossovers, including the Explorer and Capri, with a new Focus-sized crossover expected in 2027.
