Qualcomm Names Founder's Son Its Next CEO
ualcomm Inc. said Tuesday it named Paul Jacobs to succeed his father, company founder Irwin Jacobs, as its chief executive officer.
Paul Jacobs, 42, is currently president of Qualcomm's wireless and Internet group. He will take over as CEO effective July 1, the company said.
Irwin Jacobs will remain the Qualcomm's chairman.
Qualcomm makes mobile communications systems and trailer-tracking technology used by the trucking industry.
Company officials told Transport Topics in December that Qualcomm had about a 65% market share of the in-cab communications market.
