Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line said it will increase its base rates by an average 5.6%, beginningnext Monday.
The increases will be based on the length of a haul, Rick Keeler, senior vice president of pricing and strategic development at the Thomasville, N.C.-based carrier, said in a statemennt.
“The increase is necessary to offset higher costs as a result of new equipment, new service centers, state-of-the-art technology, insurance costs as well as wages and benefits,” he said.
ODFL is ranked No. 20 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
