President Obama signed a transportation funding extension into law, restoring money to pay 80,000 aviation and construction workers and ensuring highway and transportation funding through early next year, news reports said.

The Senate passed a transportation funding bill late last week — extending it through March —Ìý and sent the president the measure to extend funding just hours before the Federal Aviation Administration’s money was to expire, the Los Angeles Times reported.
