TS Freight, Helena, Mont., a division of Mergenthaler Transfer & Storage, said it bought the operating assets and customer list of less-than-truckload competitor Molerway Freight lines for an undisclosed amount.

Molerway went out of business May 13 after it sold 19 tractors, 65 trailers and 10 service centers to MTS, a spokesman for MTS told Transport Topics.

“In addition to opening the Denver market, this enables us to significantly increase our customer base and coverage throughout Montana,” said Dan Mergenthaler, president of MTS, in a prepared statement.

MTS owns and operates 75 to 100 tractors and 200 to 300 trailers as a truckload and LTL carrier, a company spokesman said.
