| Staff WriterIt is unlikely the directors ever imagined their newly focused group would quickly be put to the kinds of tests that have dominated trucking news this year — proposed changes to the hours-of-service rules that the industry said would create severe economic and logistical nightmares, skyrocketing diesel fuel costs and the threat of new federal ergonomics regulations.
And, fresh from several notable victories in Washington, the group is preparing to take stock of its progress late this month when the 2000 ATA Management Conference & Exhibition is held Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in San Diego.
