Mineta said last week he planned to recommend that President Bush move ahead to lift the U.S. moratorium against Mexican trucks operating in the United States beyond limited border commercial zones.
Mineta said in a Nov. 20 interview with Transport Topics that he would submit his request to the White House later in the week. He said he was scheduled to meet with Mexican officials Nov. 25-26.
"I will be submitting my request for the president to modify the border moratorium to open the southern border," Mineta said.
