Letter to the Editor: Safestat Errors
he report that this information in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration database is incorrect is harmful to the whole trucking industry.
The data are used for insurance renewal and auditing purposes. Our company just went through renewal. The data in our file were used extensively in this process, and a rate increase was the result.
If the data were incorrect, it could cause us to pay more for renewal than is necessary. This type of government error is what could put companies like ours out of business with improper and incorrect data.
