Truck manufacturer Kenworth Truck Co., Kirkland, Wash., on Monday announced it had delivered its first hybrid-electric truck to a U.S. customer.
The vehicle, a Class 7, was delivered to Dunn Lumber Co., a Seattle-based provider of construction materials.
“It’s still very early, but fuel economy is up an estimated 35% in the first few weeks of operation compared to one of our similarly spec’d Kenworth T300s,” said Mark Geyer, fleet manager for Dunn Lumber.
Kenworth is a subsidiary of truck manufacturer Paccar Inc., Bellvue, Wash.
