IRS Exempts Dyed Diesel in Florida Following Wilma
he Internal Revenue Service, in response to shortages of clear diesel fuel caused by Hurricane Wilma in Florida, said it will not impose excise tax penalties when dyed diesel fuel is sold for use or used on the highway in that state.
IRS said the relief applies to dyed diesel fuel sold or used in Florida after Oct. 25 and will remain in effect through Nov. 10. It is available to any person that sells or uses dyed diesel fuel for highway use.
The agency instituted similar exemptions following Hurricane Katrina in August and Hurricane Rita in September.
