Ind. Gov. Plans to Double Tolls, Troubling Truck Companies
plan by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) would more than double tolls for truckers on the Indiana Toll Road, which a truck official said would make local business operations for carriers more difficult.
Kenny Cragen, president of the Indiana Motor Truck Association, said the higher rates could result in many truckers using alternative east-west corridors for shorter runs instead of the toll road.
The Indiana Toll Road runs along the northern part of the state, connecting Chicago to the Ohio Turnpike. Bob Lapczynski, operations manager for toll collections with the Indiana Toll Road District, said last week nearly 3 million commercial trucks had traveled the road so far this year.
