The price of goods imported to the United States jumped by 1.3% in November, the highest this year, the Labor Department said Friday.
The gains were led by imported food. Excluding automobiles, prices of imported consumer goods fell 0.3%. Prices excluding fuel rose 0.8%.
The overall increase followed a revised 1% gain in October that was slightly higher than first reported.
The gain topped economists’ forecast of a 0.8% increase, Bloomberg reported.
U.S. export prices rose 1.5%, the biggest since July 2008, Labor said.
