Image of Truckers Is a Major Concern for 'Boss Lady'

When Layne Morrison meets with new clients for Casual Driver, her driver leasing firm, they are usually expecting a man. Morrison says it’s because of her first name: “It’s unusual and a bit misleading.”

Her girl-next-door appearance may also be misleading, for beneath that fresh-faced exterior lies the heart of a zealot, working to better the treatment of drivers and the public image of the transportation industry.

“I’ve worked in the transportation business for about 10 years and I’ve met a lot of nice people and a lot of great drivers,” she says.
