House Passes Horse Protection Act
he House of Representatives has passed legislation that will amend the Horse Protection Act to forbid transporting horses and other equines “to be slaughtered for human consumption and other purposes,” American Trucking Associations said Monday.
If signed into law, the bill could cause significant loss of business for trucking companies that deliver horses for slaughter, ATA’s Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference said in a statement.
The bill, H.R. 503, passed the house with a vote of 263-146.
