Hoffa: Strike a 'War of Attrition'
Teamsters President James P. Hoffa took on Overnite Transportation in a question-and-answer session with the media Jan. 6.
“We’re going to see this through,” Hoffa said, referring to the 11-week-old Teamsters strike of the Richmond, Va.-based carrier. “We hope [Overnite’s management] will come to their senses. It’s a war of attrition, and our people think they’re winning.”
Ira Rosenfeld, director of communications for the less-than-truckload company, said while Overnite was eager for the strike to end, it has no intention of caving in to the union’s demands.

Hoffa said his union is willing to continue the strike as long as it has to and has the financial resources to do so.
