wo truckload carriers, Heartland Express and All Freight Systems, said they were boosting pay for their company and independent drivers, respectively.

Heartland said in a statement it was raising pay for its Jacksonville, Fla., region company drivers to 43 cents. It did not say from what level the pay was raised.

The carrier, ranked No. 46 on the Transport Topics 100, recently increased driver pay for those drivers who hold the hazardous endorsement on their license by a penny per mile for all dispatched miles, hazardous or not.

All Freight Systems, meanwhile, raised its owner-operator pay to 91 cents per mile plus fuel surcharges, from 88 cents.

For drivers who choose to base their pay on percentage of load revenue instead of a mileage rate, this translates to 70% outbound and 80% inbound pay on all freight, the carrier said in a statement.
