Groendyke Transport Names Joe Morrissey President

, which has operated for more than 90 years, announced Jan. 4 that has been named president.
Morrissey had served as chief commercial officer since joining Groendyke in 2018. He takes over the president role immediately from , who had held the roles of president and CEO, and will remain CEO.
There have been previous presidents of Groendyke who werent related to the family, but the position of CEO has always been held by a member of the Groendyke family either by blood or marriage, according to Matt Palmer, a spokesperson for the company. Hodgen is married to Shawn Groendyke-Hodgen and is second vice chairman of . The Enid, Okla., company was founded in 1932 by Harold Groendyke.
So this is just kind of a passing of the torch of the president position so that Greg can focus on being CEO, Palmer said. Hes focusing on that really big picture, setting us up for success in the future and our growth especially. I know thats been a major focus for awhile now to compete in our space; staying the same size is kind of standing still. Youve got to grow in order to compete in our space, and its a big part of our strategy moving forward.
There will be no change in the operations of Groendyke around the Enid area, Palmer said, and the corporate headquarters will remain in Enid. Morrissey will divide his time between Enid and Florida, where he has lived since first joining Groendyke.

Morrissey has more than 40 years of experience in the chemical and bulk tank trucking industry. He also helped transform Groendykes sales and commercial team and its centralized planning centers, , and as president will be responsible for all company operations.
In addition to Morrissey being named president, has been named senior vice president of branding, and was promoted to vice president of operations.
Snapp, who has been with Groendyke for 37 years, will be responsible for communicating, reinforcing and fostering the companys mission, vision, values and culture, championing Groendykes status as the safest, strongest and best employer in the bulk trucking business, according to the release.
Parrish joined Groendyke in 2014 after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and has served as terminal manager and planning center director. In his new role, he will focus on the day-to-day operations of the company.

Palmer said Morrissey has been a good fit with the company, has learned the culture and is familiar with the Groendyke family.
Its going to be invaluable for it to be somebody who is already with Groendyke; weve been around for 92 years and have a great track record, and its always important that the person who is in charge understands and knows the family, understands how we operate and really buys in, Palmer said. I think its going to be a really smooth transition and really easy change for the people at Groendyke as well.
