DETROIT (AP) – Canadian Auto Workers bargainers have reached a tentative agreement on a contract with General Motors Corp. and union members are expected to ratify it this weekend, union President Buzz Hargrove said today.

The three-year deal reached Tuesday night includes raises of 4.5 percent a year, an extra paid week off and a $670 signing bonus, Hargrove said.

The contract also calls for a 25 percent pension increase over six years, and for retirement incentives that could apply to 7,000 workers over the next six years, he said.

GM agreed not to sell or close any of its Canadian car or truck plants during the life of the proposed contract, Hargrove said.

He said he expects his 22,000 GM members to easily ratify the pact.

The agreement follows the pattern CAW negotiators reached earlier with Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG.
