Freightliner Closes Tooele Reconfigured Day Cab Manufacturing Facility

ruck manufacturer Freightliner LLC is closing its reconfigured day cab manufacturing operation in Tooele, Utah, the company said Tuesday in a release.

Officials at Freightliner Market Development Corp., the division of Freightliner that manufactures the cabs, said they decided to cease production in Tooele due to strengthened used truck values, greater demand for used sleeper cabs, and wider availability of as-built day cabs.

Freightliner opened the facility in 2000 to reconfigure used sleeper cabs into day cabs.

Freightliner said it will begin a phased shutdown of operations at the site beginning in October and continuing through early November.
