Ford Motor Co. is considering scrapping the electric version of its F-150 pickup truck, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.Ìý

No final decision has been made on the vehicle, which is called the F-150 Lightning, according to the Journal.Ìý

Ford shares were little changed at 2:45 p.m. in New York trading on Thursday.Ìý

The F-150 Lightning was once central to Ford’s EV strategy, but it has struggled to attract buyers due to high prices and limited range. Ford has also said it’s looking to focus its EV efforts on smaller, cheaper vehicles.Ìý

Demand for electric vehicles has slipped following the expiration of a US federal tax credit in September, which is causing some companies to rethink their plans. Rivals Stellantis NV and General Motors Co. have both pulled back their plans around large EVs.
