Florida Eases Weight Rule for Agriculture Haulers

| Staff Reporterimg src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Florida Gov. Jeb Bush relaxed the state’s weight restrictions on tractor-trailers so truckers could haul emergency produce shipments and help farmers cope with an unusual cold snap.
“Transporting the vulnerable crops to processing sites without delay is necessary to save them from destruction,” Bush said in the Jan. 22 emergency order.
The order increased the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight for tractor-trailers by 15,000 pounds to 95,000 pounds until Feb. 21.
