Fleetscape Lands on Dotcom Scrap Heap
Daniel L. Whitten
| Staff ReporterThe scrappy little parts exchange that maintained it could succeed after its main trucking industry participant bailed out couldn’t. The company debuted in March and was called FleetWorks. But it was forced to change its name to Fleetscape after Meritor, a parts manufacturer based in Troy, Mich., responded to industry pressure and decided not to participate.
Fleetscape was based in Boston and it was supported initially by Accel Partners of Palo Alto, Calif., and Gen3Partners in Boston. But the first round funding dried up before the site went live and the company was unable to secure a second round.
