Fall Ushers in Chain Season
Jeff Johnson
| Staff ReporterThe Colorado Motor Carriers Assn. reminds truckers that it is time to start carrying chains or cables. Failure to do so could result not only in being stuck in the snow, but hefty penalties, too.
Colorado's chain requirement is backed by a $100 fine. And if a stuck truck blocks a roadway, the driver can be fined up to $500 and assessed four points on his commercial license.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is re-deploying the pusher truck donated by the Roadway. Last winter, the pusher helped extricate 163 vehicles from ice and snow, 120 of which were trucks.
