EPA Plans to Test Emissions Under On-Road Conditions
he Environmental Protection Agency said Friday that it is planning a new program to test on-highway diesel truck and bus emissions more accurately and less expensively.
EPA said the program will employ new technology to ensure the agency's looming stricter diesel emissions standards set to take effect in 2007 will be able to be achieved under real-world driving conditions.
The program is the result of cooperation among EPA, the California Air Resource Board and diesel engine manufacturers, the agency said.
"This collaborative effort with engine manufacturers will help ensure that diesel trucks run cleaner for as long as they are on our roads," Holmstead said in a statement.
