EPA Orders Makers of Smaller Trucks to Post Emissions Data on Web Sites
John Wislocki
| Staff Reporteranufacturers of light- and medium-duty vehicles will have to provide emissions-component repair information to independent repair organizations, the Environmental Protection Agency said June 27.
Beginning with the 2005 model year, manufacturers of trucks weighing less than 14,000 pounds, which includes Class 3, will have to make the repair information available on the Internet so service personnel will have ready access to the emissions repair data, EPA said.
Industry estimates indicate that independent technicians perform up to 80% of all vehicle service and repairs, EPA said.
