Eaton, IdleAire Enter Deal to Build Anti-Idling System
Eaton Corp. and IdleAire Technologies Corp. announced they had agreed to a $65 million contract to develop an anti-idling system for truck stops.
Eaton’s Power Truss system, which the companies called “a key component” of IdleAire’s advanced electrification system, “will be deployed at 210 truck stops and fleet terminals nationwide” over the next 12 months.
The system, according to the companies’ statement, provides “substitute power” for trucks allowing them to shut their engines off “eliminating 100 percent of idling emissions.”
“A truck using its system consistently for one year would save 3,366 gallons of fuel,” IdleAire said.
