istillate inventories fell slightly, while crude oil and gasoline inventories rose last week, the Department of Energy said in its weekly inventory report.

Distillates, which include heating oil and diesel fuel, fell 88,000 barrels last week, DOE said. Analysts were expecting a rise of 600,000 barrels, Bloomberg reported.

Heating-oil futures rose slightly on the New York Mercantile Exchange following the news, Bloomberg said.

Meanwhile crude oil prices fell 32 cents to $61.05 a barrel on the Nymex following DOE’s report that inventories rose 892,000 barrels, well above the 1.5 million-barrel decline that was forecast, Bloomberg reported.

Gasoline inventories rose 1.8 million barrels for the week, above analysts's expectations, Bloomberg said.
