Diesel Price Ticks Down 0.7¢ to $3.805 a Gallon

The national average diesel price inched down seven-tenths of a cent to $3.805, stopping a streak of three straight increases, according to U.S. data released July 29.

Factoring in that small dip, the cost of diesel has risen four times in the past six weeks, totaling a 23.4-cent rise.

The price for a gallon of trucking’s main fuel is 3.7 cents higher than at this time in 2024.

Regional Trends

The average price for a gallon of diesel decreased in three regions — East Coast, Midwest and Gulf Coast — and increased in two — Rocky Mountain and West Coast. When including subregions, the biggest decrease was 3 cents in the Central Atlantic. The biggest increase came in the West Coast less California region at 1.3 cents.

Gasoline Update

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline ticked up two-tenths of a cent to $3.123 a gallon. Gas costs 36.1 cents less than at this time a year ago.
