Diesel Drops 2.1¢ to $3.476 in Fifth Straight Decline

The national average diesel price dipped 2.1 cents a gallon to $3.476, the fifth straight decline, according to data released May 13.
Trucking’s main fuel has dropped each week since April 14, totaling 16.9 cents. Before that, diesel’s price had risen 9 cents a gallon over three consecutive increases.
On average, a gallon of diesel costs 37.2 cents less than at this time in 2024.

Regional Trends
Diesel’s average price declined in three of the five PADD districts in EIA’s weekly survey, with the biggest drop 3.3 cents on the East Coast. The West Coast and Rocky Mountain areas showed gains of seven-tenths and three-tenths of a cent, respectively. California showed a 3.2-cent increase.

Gasoline Update
The national average price of gasoline shed 2.7 cents a gallon to settle at $3.12. That’s 48.8 cents less than it cost at this time a year ago.
