The price of diesel fuel jumped to the highest level seen in 22 weeks, amid predictions of still higher prices to come.

According to the Energy Information Administration, the national average retail price of diesel fuel on Aug. 21 was $1.471 a gallon, which was 2.4 cents above the previous week.
The price of diesel fuel has been tracking the rising price of crude oil for the past three weeks.
Crude climbed on the New York Mercantile Exchange from $29.98 a barrel on Aug. 7 to $31.98 on Aug. 21.
