ARSHALL, Mich. — Dana Corp. said it would introduce its version of an air-ride suspension for steer axles in late 2006, joining a market increasingly receptive to that style of component on linehaul trucks.
The company said its timetable would enable truck makers to install the new suspension — dubbed FrontRunner — on front ends designed to accommodate forces generated by the expected revisions of the stopping-distance rule.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration spokesman Eric Bolton told Transport Topics Sept. 7 the revised rule — which as recently as January was said to be imminent — was “still in process.”
