U.S. consumer confidence improved in September, according to the latest Reuters/University of Michigan monthly consumer sentiment index, released Tuesday.
The final index for September rose to a reading of 59.8, from 58.5 in August, the group said. A preliminary reading earlier in the month showed 73.1.
