Clean Energy Fuels is displaying a second Class 8 demonstration truck that runs on renewable natural gas at ’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

The 2026 Freightliner Cascadia day cab is powered by a Cummins X15N natural gas engine and is the next in an ongoing Clean Energy program that gives fleets an opportunity to test the truck in real-world settings. The fuel provider already has an X15N-powered Peterbilt making the rounds with fleets.

The new demo truck will travel through freight corridors in California, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida and other states, offering large and midsize fleets a chance to test the engine’s capabilities. The program is expected to run through 2028 or longer, Clean Energy said in a release.

After appearing at MCE, the truck will enter service.

The Cummins X15N is designed to run on RNG, a biogenic fuel derived from organic waste such as dairy manure. Fleets fueling with RNG can reduce emissions by more than 300%, which can help them reach emissions reduction targets while saving money on fuel costs, Clean Energy said.

“The Cummins X15N truly is a game changer, providing equivalent power and torque as its diesel equivalent, yet allowing fleets to claim significant carbon and NOx emission reductions with a fuel that is priced at a big discount to diesel,” said Chad Lindholm, senior vice president at Clean Energy. “The reason we have a waiting list to test our demo trucks is because, despite regulatory easing, operators of fleets and their customers continue to want to have the cleanest trucks. Viable electric and fuel cell options are years and years from becoming an affordable reality. RNG is the only solution that is here today, affordable and clean.”
