usiness inventories rose 0.7% in March from a month earlier, the Commerce Department said Thursday. Sales also rose by 0.7%.

The gain followed a revise 0.1% rise in February. Economists had forecast inventories to rise 0.5%, Bloomberg reported.

hen inventories and sales are growing, it usually means trucking is seeing additional demand to deliver goods and restock shelves.

Inventories at retailers rose 1% following no change in February. Retailers’ inventory sales gained 0.6% following a 0.8% drop.
