At the end of a long trip, what could be better than a thick steak, a cold beer and an evening in Juarez or Tijuana — with someone else paying the tab?

Apparently a lot, depending on where the offer originated.

U.S. Border Patrol agents in the four states bordering Mexico are telling truck drivers to be on the alert for deals that are too good to be true — deals that could include smuggling.

“The money is enticing,” says Doug Mosier, public affairs officer for the Border Patrols’ El Paso sector. “But the risks far outweigh the profits.
