August Durable Goods Orders Rise 3.3%
.S. orders for durable goods rose 3.3% in August, more than analysts had expected, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.
Orders of goods made to last at least three years rose to $210.9 billion, Commerce said. Analysts had expected a 0.7% increase, Bloomberg reported.
Trucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
Excluding transportation orders, August orders rose 4.2%, Commerce said. Economists had predicted a decline of 1%, Bloomberg reported.
