BAL HARBOUR, Fla. — The American Moving and Storage Association is officially out of American Trucking Associations.

That unanimous decision was made at the group’s annual meeting, held from Feb. 24 to 28. The executive board’s action came as no surprise because ASMA had signaled its intention in December to leave the trucking federation.

Joseph M. Harrison, president of AMSA, said concern about the membership requirements of ATA’s reorganization plan was one of the main reasons the group chose to leave.

ATA’s restructuring calls on all partner groups to affiliate with it by the end of 2000. Organizations that choose to retain their relationship with ATA must require their members to join both the national trade group and a state trucking association.
